California's daylighting law cleared parking from every crosswalk corner. SFMTA, in collaboration with Civic Joy Fund, Sierra Club SF Group, Streets for All SF, Walk SF, Bernal Beautiful, Slow Down SF, and SF Beautiful turned those cleared corners into the Community Corners pilot, letting neighborhood groups adopt them with murals and planters.

K Street used to be something. Thirty-eight poles, six blocks, and a scope that grew from $300K to $500K because community-informed design was worth pushing for. New LED lighting brings the corridor back, lit for people, not for traffic.

One city block, reclaimed. Colorful furniture, an Imagination Playground, custom ping pong tables from local artists, and a mobile reading cart. Formerly Cesar Chavez Plaza, now proof that public space belongs to people. Place as possibility.

Eight banners. Eight poles. Twenty-four blocks of East Sacramento's Little Italy Historic District, finally marked. A neighborhood that built itself over generations now sees itself in the street. Identity to public space.

Seventeen benches. One waterfront promenade. California Bloom turned neglected infrastructure into a blooming celebration of California poppies. A neglected backyard behind affordable housing in the Tenderloin, transformed. Basketball, a community garden, watershed infrastructure, and flexible space for youth programming, built for a community that was never neglected to begin with.

Creative crosswalks celebrating Little Saigon's Vietnamese-American identity, placed at the exact intersection the data has demanded action on since 2006. Crosswalks like these cut crashes by 37% and boost driver yielding by 22%. Grounded in equity. Led by data.
